If you're going to make a Christian stand, you better be operating by
Christian principles. If you're not, it isn't going to work. If
you're fasting, then make sure you don't put on a long face.
Matthew 6:16 Get in and help sweep the floors. Don't put a
burden upon anyone else. Treat everyone as you would like to be
treated. Put on Jesus Christ. Don't be rebellious. If they persecute
you, return love and kindness to them.
If you're fasting, you'll probably be questioned by the jail nurse:
"What's wrong with you? Why are you fasting?"
"Because I have been commanded by my Lord to fast."
"That's not very smart, don't you know your body is withering away? You're destroying your body."
"That's not an issue to me. When my Lord commands me to fast, I'm to fast. He's the One overseeing my health. If this is what He wants, then it is what I want."
"When are you going to quit your fast?"
"I have no idea. Why don't you ask Jesus, He's the One that commanded it."
"Yes, but what about your wife and children, don't you love them?"
"Sure I do, but what does that have to do with anything? Jesus comes first. Jesus says I have to hate my wife and my children and my property. I even have to hate my own life. For if I seek to save my life, I shall lose it." Luke 9:24
